Aachen, when talking about this ancient city, you immediately think of Charlemagne who chose it as his residence.To this day you can admire what this great man left to mankind. Thanks to him in 786 began the construction of the imposing cathedral, which still preserves his relics.
He was a great emperor but he as well, like all of us, needed treatment and when he returned to Aachen tired from the labors of reigning a vast empire, he cured himself in the thermal waters already famous in Roman Times. By the way, did you know when the Aachen Cathedral was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites?
It was 1978 and it was the first German monument to be a part of it.Today Aachen is a very vibrant city inhabited by a lot of young people thanks to its renowned university.
Aachen considers itself a European city bordering with Belgium and the Netherlands, when their inhabitants crowd its streets it’s nice to hear not only the German language but also the French, Dutch and Flemish languages.
To grasp as well as possible the atmosphere of this wonderful city means, with my routes, not only visiting the classic places that are proposed to the usual tourists, but also living those little corners full of history that the inhabitants themselves sometimes forget to have or know.
Aachen is just waiting for you to visit it, become part as well of the tourists who come from all over the world that I welcome, accompany and guide through the streets of this wonderful city.
